Florida Lawn Care Calendar: Season by Season

Florida lawns grow almost all year, but what they need changes with the seasons.

    Spring (March to May)

Growth picks up. Mow weekly, start regular fertilizing and watch for weeds.

    Summer (June to September)

Rain does most of the watering. Mow tall, around 3.5 to 4 inches for St. Augustine, and check local rules on summer fertilizer.

Fall and winter (October to February)

Growth slows. Mow every 2 weeks, water less and follow your county's watering days.
